ABOUT US
The school first opened its doors on 1st April 1989 and this year will have been successfully running for 35 Years!
We are a thriving and unique school based in Derby City centre with classes for all ages and abilities whether for fun or a career. Our transport links are excellent. We are only a 5 minute walk from Derby railway station and just 10 mins from the bus station.
We are like one big family here, and we pride ourselves in offering outstanding training for all leading to examinations with the RAD, ISTD, NATD, LCM, Rambert & Acrobatic Arts. We have established an excellent reputation and are proud to be giving students at this school the best possible training in Dance & Theatre Arts along with the additional benefit of getting to perform in a variety of local and National Theatres.
Our School goes from strength to strength due to the hard work and dedication of our students and teachers.
In 2016 we moved to our incredible new home. A former church dating back to 1861 on London Road in Derby. We have been doing extensive renovations since moving there in October 2016, and we now have 4 studios all with mirror and Barres, changing and ‘chill out’ areas, 2 receptions, a music room, and a 300 seat theatre area for performances. More work is still to be done but we are thrilled with everything achieved up to now.
The training and development of all our students has continued to grow and develop to the highest standard possible. It is like a home from home at our school with many students attending classes most days of the week.
OUR STUDENTS HAVE BEEN PERFORMING AT PRESTIGIOUS VENUES ALL OVER THE COUNTRY
WE HAVE PUPILS ATTENDING ASSOCIATE COURSES & FULL TIME VOCATIONAL SCHOOLS
They have also represented the school in various productions around the country including the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang UK Tour, English Youth Ballet, Regional Youth Ballet and numerous times in professional Pantomimes. Most recently, students from our school were also part of DYMT’s productions of ‘Our House’ , ‘Grease’ , ‘The Phantom of the Opera’, ‘Guys & Dolls’, West Side Story & Legally Blonde, Barnum & Bring It On The Musical.
